Nokia Corp., which announced this month it was planning cut jobs, said Tuesday it will seek up to 1,000 voluntary resignations to further reduce costs amid the global economic downturn.
The world’s largest mobile phone maker said it will open a global voluntary resignation package on March 1, and plans to increase short-term unpaid leaves and sabbaticals.
It also appealed to employees to accept holiday time as payments, instead of cash, for overtime work in 2009. Read More »

Facebook users spend almost 30 minutes a day on the site poking and messaging their friends on average, with access patterns similar on mobile phones and computers, according to a British study.
The research tracked access to Facebook by mobile phone subscribers in Britain and found that the social networking phenomenon was the top site for users measured by browsing time. Read More »

The new Toshiba TG01 mobile phone features the new Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset which is claimed to be the fastest chip on the market, and Toshiba claims the TG01 will “revolutionise the mobile entertainment world.”
The Toshiba TG01 offers up a 4.1 inch WVGA touchscreen, is 9.9mm thick, a custom Toshiba 3D GUL, HSDPA data, WiFi, GPS and a microSD expansion slot.
The TG01 doesn’t have an accelerometer but rather what Toshiba call a “G sensor†which enables the TG01 to tilt around a central area, and the user will use a virtual trackpad which appears on the screen.
